Game Fifty-Eight to Sixty-Five - Law, Order, Rats, Liches, and Beholders!

It has been an eventful six months in Dragonreach, with adventures abound!  A quick recap to catch up our fellow adventurers...

In the Fifty-Eighth foray into Dragonreach ("Lawfulness & Order"), a band of heroes hired on as "auxiliary Hellhounds" to police the mean streets of Pyre...

They were quickly tasked to solve the murder ("dun-dun") of a prominent dwarf in the city, and several clues led to the discovery of a deadly love triangle, their accusation of the dwarf's wife, and a trial-by-combat in the Grand Arena of Pyre...

In the Fifty-Ninth foray into Dragonreach ("Trial of the Masters"), a strange portal opened the way to an interdimensional "game show" run by a cabal of liches, where the heroes were forced to compete in games of arcane trivia and deadly battles to win their freedom...or die trying (as was the fate of Dante Aldari, the dwarf barbarian).

In the Sixtieth foray into Dragonreach ("The Ransom"), another band was hired to deliver a ransom for a wealthy merchant's daughter - but things soon went awry as the bandits refused to return the hostage, who had (surprise, surprise) kidnapped herself...

In
the Sixty-First foray into Dragonreach ("Die Hard"), a band of guests at the grand opening of a new mercantile guild's tower found themselves in the middle of an attack by its rivals - fortunately, only a few of the heroes were lacking shoes amid all of the broken glass...

In the Sixty-Second foray into Dragonreach ("Rats!"), a band was hired to help map the deadly sewers beneath the island of Croatoan, facing off against an enormous alligator, a vile rat-man, and massive swarms of rats!

In the Sixty-Third foray into Dragonreach ("Deadly Druid"), another band ventured deep into the Isle of Croatoan to battle a rogue druid!  Another casualty, as the halfling hero Melford Winklebottom was slain in the climactic final fight!

In the Sixty-Fourth foray into Dragonreach ("The Assassins"), a band of mercenaries tried to pave the way for a hostile mercantile takeover by assassinating a local lord - who happened to have a mechanical dragon golem under his command...

In the Sixty-Fifth foray into Dragonreach ("Bounty of Beholders"), a band of heroes was hired to track down a massive dragonshard, but needed to rescue a condemned thief to find its location, and battle three separate beholders to claim their prize!

Congratulations to all those who survived these exciting (and deadly) adventures!

Dragonreach Catchup: Games Forty-Five Through Forty-Eight (Dinosaur Themeparks, Lost Luggage, Bandits, and a Beholder - Oh My!)

Dragonreach has been bustling over the last few months, so another quick catchup...

In the Forty-Fifth foray into Dragonreach, Morlan of the Circus Spectacular hired a seasoned band to help reclaim the legendary "Grand Menagerie" - a theme park deep in the heart of Dragonreach that is full of monsters (even dinosaurs) which are cursed and cannot die!

Our heroes negotiated entry with the undying overseer of the park, Big Berto, and then dispatched Jonas Hammon - a bardic lich - and his backup band!

In the Forty-Sixth foray into Dragonreach, a band of young heroes agreed to help a wizard move to a new tower.  The band nearly perished when they parked their wagons too close to a portion of the Darkdagger Forest infested with giant spiders, killed (rather handily) the wizard's disgruntled former apprentice, and drove off a Green Dragon Wyrmling that decided the wizard's luggage would make an excellent "starter hoard."

In the Forty-Seventh foray into Dragonreach, a more seasoned band assaulted a ruined monastery in the Tenstep Forest infested with bandits.  Since the bandits seemed too numerous to face head-on, the party loosed a pack of shadows from the crypts underneath the ruins and allowed them to deal with the bandits...

And, in the Forty-Eighth foray into Dragonreach, a band of skilled adventurers undertook a quest to clear out an old wizard's tower, only to find that death - and a dreaded Beholder - awaited them inside!

More Dragonreach games coming soon!  Keep an eye on your emails!

Game Eighteen: Eye of the (Crystal) Beholder

Meanwhile, on the North side of Dragonreach (i.e., game run by John), a group of horrid nothics had stormed the sanctum of Master Magus Corrin Svabota and Magus Crispin Goldwrite and stolen a particularly large and rare dragonshard...

Most disturbingly, the nothics were said to work for a beholder lairing in an old dwarven ruin.  The mages wanted their dragonshard back - and whatever dragonshards the beholder had accumulated from its assorted thievery.

The band set off north...

A mystical mirror provided the key to entering the city, but the party was beset by nothics and snake-men...

When the beholder's lair was found, the party discovered that the beast had fashioned "armor" from the host of dragonshards it had stolen, and had replaced its central eye with a potent shard!

The horror was so powerful that it shattered the floor, forcing the party to battle while clinging to flying chunks of debris floating over a river of lava...

In the end, the heroes prevailed, the beholder was slain, and its dragonshard eye was packed up and dragged back to the City of Pyre.
